This dredge is sunk in shallow water of Torch Lake. The nearby Quincy Mining Stamp Mill, just north of the dredge, crushed copper bearing rock in order to separate the copper ore from the surrounding rock. The dredge was used to reclaim stamping sand from the lake for further processing.
